Orthotics and Prosthetics, also called O&P professionals, design medical devices and measure and adjust patients for them. These devices include artificial limbs (arms, hands, legs and feet), support struts and other medical or surgical devices.

O&P professionals can work in both orthotics and prosthetics, or they can choose to specialize in one area. Orthotists are specifically trained to work with medical devices, such as support struts and inserts. Prosthetists are specifically trained to work with prostheses, such as artificial limbs and other body parts.

Some O&P professionals can build devices for their patients. Others oversee the construction of orthotic or prosthetic devices by medical device technicians
